The winning ways of Signs Express Exeter

Football is firmly back on our screens after the small break between the end of the World Cup and the start of the English Football League.

The crest was gifted by Grecian Goal, the club’s fundraising initiative

The Premier League has also arrived with Liverpool topping the table after the first week. However, for one Signs Express branch, its full attention is on local club Exeter City.

League Two side Exeter has sprinted off to a great start, winning opener against Carlisle United 3-1 and seeing off Morecambe the weekend after. The Grecians are currently sitting pretty at the top of the table. To match its winning precedent, Signs Express Exeter has kept the ground looking its best after some turbulent times.

The crest installation is part of the £3.5m development of the Exeter City ground, St James’ Park

Managing director, Nick Baxter-Sibley, spoke exclusively to Signlink on the long-standing relationship with the club. He explains: “We’ve been in business for 23 years now and probably first started working in association [with Exeter City] 21 or 22 years ago, which was initially supplying sponsorship boards for the clients that were sponsoring games and having pitch-side boards up.

“And from that, we got involved as a more general supplier for the club and they started recommending us to people who were sponsoring.”

Baxter-Sibley continues to explain that its most recent project with the club included the creation and installation of a new club crest. This was funded by Exeter’s fan-based organisation Grecian Goal, which currently has around 40 members that raise money through a bingo-style system. The game can include donating £1 for every goal scored to donating more for a bizarre incident happening on the field.

The new crest adorns The Stagecoach Stand – which is part of the £3.5m redevelopment of St James’ Park

The crest installation is part of the £3.5m development of the Exeter City ground, St James’ Park. This includes the new Stagecoach stand, which is due for completion in the next couple of months. The crest installed by Signs Express Exeter is on the back of the new Stagecoach stand and has been revealed gradually after scaffolding was taken away.

Cladding, work on the roof, removal of all scaffolding and the installation of the seats are among the final finishes to the new stand. The ongoing work to the stand is not a distraction it seems, as Exeter maintained an unbeaten run in League One and are also through to the next round of the Carabao Cup after beating Championship side Ipswich.
