CMYUK supports local food bank

It may be sad to know that communities in modern Britain have to turn to food banks in order to feed themselves or their family, but this is the reality. However, in a show of humans coming together, CMYUK has offered its services to The Shrewsbury Food Hub, a new food centre that aims to help those in need, by creating a safe space for those who visit.

CMYUK’s design details the journey made by surplus food from supermarkets to the food banks

Food banks rely on extra food from supermarkets and stores, and is provided to those who need it. The Food Hub opened in 2016, and has recently moved to a new, larger space. The walls were bare however, and CMYUK stepped in to decorate. The firm designed and printed soft signage which demonstrated the journey of surplus food, and how it comes from the supermarket to the food bank.

The Shrewsbury Food Hub supplies 32 community groups across Shropshire. To help, CMYUK printed custom-made wallpaper, and it was fitted by Shelley Signs. CMYUK used its own Utack to decorate the walls, offering ease of installation and removal of soft signage.

The place has been completely transformed. It’s the first thing people mention when they come in and it gives our volunteers a really cheery environment to do their sorting in

Robin East, group director of CMYUK, comments: “It’s been a pleasure helping Katy and the team at the Food Hub. They now have a much brighter environment for the volunteers to work in. I wish them all the best.”

“It’s been so heart-warming to have CMYUK come forward and offer so much time and all of the materials for free,” says Katy Anderson, co-founder of the Shrewsbury Food Hub, adding: “The place has been completely transformed. It’s the first thing people mention when they come in and it gives our volunteers a really cheery environment to do their sorting in. We cannot thank them enough.”
