More than 30 firefighters tackled the blaze that has destroyed GT Display

Around eight fire trucks from eight different areas were at the scene tackling the blaze at its peak, with more than 30 firefighters extinguishing the flames. It was under control, but the team stayed onsite through the rest of the morning and well into the day, and eventually left on Sunday afternoon.

The damage has completely destroyed the inside of GT Display, with other businesses suffering from smoke damage, and are obviously upset about the weekend’s events.

An investigation went into how the fire started, and the owners of GT were not allowed on the premises of the business until this was completed.

The last fire crew from Bilston left the scene at 12.30pm on Sunday

Photos show that almost nothing is salvageable from the fire, and the damage done is devastating. GT produce blank acrylic displays for signage for outdoor, showroom and trade show use.

A spokesman for the West Midlands Fire service comments: “The last fire crew from Bilston left the scene at 12.30pm on Sunday.

“A fire investigation officer [was] at the scene and will be working with police and forensic specialists to determine the cause.”

The cause of the fire is still yet unknown, and the damage is severe. The roof had collapsed on the unit, and a video posted on social media by Bilston Fire Station showed that the fire engulfed the building, sending black pillars of smoke into the sky.
