Eco wall graphic brings Thai restaurant to life

A Leeds-based Thai street food restaurant has been given an environmental re-vamp using CMYUK recycled waste plastic textiles.

Imageco used recycled plastic waste textile from CMYUK which it now offers as standard

Large-format digital print company, Imageco used UFabrik backlit Eco single piece wallcovering from CMYUK to decorate the interior of Zaap Thai Street Food which opened recently in Headingley.

The company used a 5m wide LED hybrid EFI VUTEk GS 3250 LX Pro printer to produce the 5m wide by 2.5m high graphic directly for the restaurant. The design has been fitted into a “supersized” lightbox and features images depicting the bustling vibe of downtown Bangkok.

Using night/day printing, Imageco was able to produce the graphic in a way that it switches between day and night. This technology uses a full colour day image and a full colour night image which were digitally output and sandwiched together in the lightbox with a printed white layer between them.

UFabrik Eco Backlit is one of my favourite materials because not only is it made from recycled plastic bottles but the image quality is absolutely stunning

In doing this, the graphic switches from a daytime scene with the lightbox switched off, but when it’s switched on, the scene transforms into a nightscape complete with a bright moon, stars and illuminated city lights.

Nathon Swinson-Bullough, managing director of Imageco, comments: “UFabrik Eco Backlit is one of my favourite materials because not only is it made from recycled plastic bottles but the image quality is absolutely stunning.”

Sustainability is a huge focus of Imageco and the company was recently voted joint Green Award Winner at this year’s British Sign Awards, and is now offering the UFabrik Eco range as a standard.
