Commuters get ready to take off

A Hastings sign firm recently used its expertise to transform London’s Piccadilly Station into a cosmic world ahead of the launch of the new series Star Trek: Picard.

Piccadilly Station was given a space-themed makeover

Family-run Links Signs has over 20 years’ experience in designing, producing and installing vitreous enamel signage and cladding, as well as digital printed large-format graphics.

Working in collaboration with Amazon Prime and Transport for London, the space-themed look included a temporary name change to Picardilly Station.

Played by Patrick Stewart, Captain Jean-Luc Picard is described as a “legendary” fictional character and features in the Star Trek franchise as the captain of the starship USS Enterprise.

The promotional overhaul allows Amazon to reach audiences to inform them about the release date in a creative way, celebrating a fictional character whose legacy will go down in history

The new series will explore Picard’s journey into his later years after two decades on shore leave.

As part of the installation, Links Signs transformed the Transport for London roundels into iconic Starfleet Emblems using large scale graphics and promotional materials.

The walls of the tube station were filled with promotional advertisements for the trailer launch and the white Piccadilly font on the tube’s signage throughout was changed for gold lettering with a rocket in place of the ‘A’.

Paul Cox of Links Signs comments: “This campaign [was] set to create a buzz around Star Trek’s return to our screens for the new Amazon series. The promotional overhaul allows Amazon to reach audiences to inform them about the release date in a creative way, celebrating a fictional character whose legacy will go down in history.

“In the words of Captain Picard – we think it’s really set to ‘engage’ the public.”
