The station has been transformed into a jungle

Family-run East Sussex sign firm, Links Signs oversaw the creation and installation of the signage.

Renamed ‘Westminster Jungle’, the station now has leaves and vines draped round the entrance and graphics of a gorilla – the campaign’s main character – adorning the walls of the platforms.

Ticket barriers have also been decorated with the lion and unicorn which feature in The Times’ masthead.

The first stage of the campaign portrayed politicians as animals in Westminster zoo, and is described as reflecting “the increasingly raucous state of politics, breaking out of the confines of a zoo, into the wilderness of the jungle”.

The newspapers say they have chosen to make this statement as a bid to reinforce their commitment to keep readers well informed in “confusing times”.

Links Signs describes itself as one of only a handful of companies able to manufacture vitreous enamel signage and cladding in-house and as a result, specialises in servicing Transport for London and Network Rail and their franchises.

A spokesperson for the company explains how all the signage was installed overnight, with the team made up of around 15 operatives and a site manager who co-ordinated the work and ensured al health and safety regulations were complied with.

A spokesperson for the company describes the client as “over the moon with the end result”, and adds: “Our speed of response, ability to react and deliver in short timescales make us ideally suited for fast paced campaigns like this one.”

Lynne Fraser, head of brand and campaigns at The Times and The Sunday Times says: “This activity has taken our political animals out of the zoo and into the jungles: something that we feel represents the shift in the political landscape since we launched the campaign six months ago.
