HP 3D printing technology allows LIMB-Art to affordably create its products
Former Paralympic swimmer and medallist Mark Williams founded LIMB-Art last year with his wife, Rachael.
An “overwhelming desire” to help other prosthetic users with their confidence around the appearance of their prosthetics fuelled the couple.
The HP Jet Fusion 3D 4200 allows the company, which works in alliance with Design Reality, to create the covers at a cost point that is not “prohibitive” in terms of both durability and affordability.
The idea behind LIMB-Art is to make these covers available for anyone who needs it. The focus of the business is to use the money raised from sales of adult leg covers to create leg covers for children free-of-charge, and the HP Jet Fusion 3D printer makes this achievable.

Mark Williams comments: “Working with HP and Design Reality means that we can move away from traditional production methods, where we’d typically use an injection mould one design at a time, limiting our customer base and available styles.

Williams explains that the HP Jet Fusion technology sets the firm apart from competitors, by being able to sell into the NHS and gain support from leading prosthetic manufacturers like Otto-Block.
