Saving lives with football and wide-format

Football for Peace hosted a Peace Tournament which saw Prince William and top football players come together to support young people on and off the pitch.

The Peace Tournament took place at the Copper Box Arena in London

The event, sponsored by EFI and Syncoms, honoured some of the newest Young Peace Leaders – a group of young people who have graduated from the City for Peace initiative this year. The program helps young people gain the skills and experience to unite their communities through football and other activities that will help to bring local communities together.

The initiative hopes to train 500 Young Peace Leaders by 2020 with the aim of bringing communities closer to each other through a love of football. The launch event saw His Royal Highness Prince William, Mesut Ozil, Louis Saha, Bacary Sagna, Mamadou Sakho, Carlton Cole, Cherno Samba and Avram Gran alongside the young leaders, take shots at a set of blocks with the words ‘hate’, ‘violence’ and ‘conflict’ that, when tumbled down, revealed the positive slogan: ‘Uniting The World Through Football.’

This was an excellent example of how high quality, large-format print can be used to support creative thinking

Syncoms’ vice president of print and technology, Ali Ridha Jaffar, says: “This was an excellent example of how high quality, large-format print can be used to support creative thinking and help bring communications and marketing campaigns to life.

“Football for Peace shows how, through understanding and people working together, negative, often destructive issues can be addressed. I am delighted that the Duke of Cambridge was able to partake in the programme, which will serve as a real inspiration for present and future Peace Leaders.”

EFI vice president of Europe sales, Paul Cripps, says: “We’re thrilled to have been a part of Football for Peace with this latest campaign and launch event. With EFI VUTEk superwide digital inkjet printers, we were able to produce the iconic ‘Wall of Division’ as well as other large-format items.”
