Epson moves to further expand its technical range of printers, aimed at professionals who require print precision

Following the earlier launch of the lower cost SC-T3100 and SC-T5100, the Japanese firm has expanded its range of technical printers specifically designed to create accurate and precise prints for those working across a range of industries.

The smaller 24-inch T3400 is available with or without a stand to accommodate the individual requirements of an office space. The technical plotter printers use pigment inks which are smudge and water resistant and do not fade. Epson hopes to attract architects, engineers and others working with detailed plans to this new range.

Phil McMullin, sales manager for professional graphics, Epson UK comments: “It’s simple; the technology is focussed on making you more productive. Whether you’re producing highly-detailed CAD drawings, stunning advertising posters or eye-catching POS, these printers always impress. Productivity is further enhanced by high capacity ink cartridges (110ml and 350ml) and 4 colour UltraChrome XD2 ink that’s smudge and water-resistant.

“The SureColor SC-T3400 and SC-T5400 are designed for businesses that value precision and reliability.  Offering impressive total cost of ownership, the printers are designed for professionals looking to increase their productivity and creativity,” adds Phil. “We’re delighted to have built on Epson’s rich heritage in this area and enhance an already impressive range of technical plotters. Building on Epson’s technology to deliver class-leading print performance, they fit seamlessly into most workplaces and allow users to print wirelessly from tablets and smartphones.”

Design-wise, Epson are moving away from the boxy shape so often seen with desktop and free-standing printers and targeting a design-conscious audience with a slimmer, more compact design.

The new models to the T-series range look to reduce running costs for commercial printers who do a lot of short runs but need precise and accurate printing, with larger ink cartridges, the ability to edit a document in preview, and borderless roll printing that will reduce waste. The printheads are permanent and are designed to last the entire life of the printer, taking away one more consumable for customers.

The SureColour SC-T3400 retails at £1595, the SC-T3400N for £1395 and the larger SC-T5400 retails at £1895.
