Granthams adds new Mimaki kit to portfolio

Granthams has expanded its selection of print solutions with the addition of the new Mimaki UCJV UV printer-cutter series, following its UK launch at The Print Show 2017.

The Mimaki UCJV UV printer-cutter series proved a hit at The Print Show 2017, with Mimaki and Hybrid Services resellers reporting a number of sales

The UCJV300-160 and UCJV150-160 roll-to-roll models make up the new series, and have both proved popular with the UK market since their unveiling last month.

Granthams has now moved to take advantage of this early interest by adding the machines to its own portfolio, which already includes a raft of other Mimaki kit, as well as HP Latex and Scitex technologies.

Jamie Reader, sales consultant at Granthams, comments: “Although solvent technology remains a strong market leader, the industry is always changing and it’s important to keep up with the changes that are noticeably making an impact.

“We’ve seen UV technology becoming increasingly popular in recent years, and noticed a specific demand for a 64-inch UV roll-to-roll system ever since the Mimaki UJV55-320 UV printer was announced back in March 2016.

“For existing solvent users, UV technology will introduce instant cure printing, ready for immediate lamination, cutting and application. This is definitely one of the key benefits for most, especially in such a competitive industry where turnaround is so crucial to securing sales.

“UV technology also reduces environmental impact and workplace odours, which are factors of growing importance to everyone in the industry now more than ever.

“Previous attempts at combating these two concerns often came at a cost; sacrificing vibrancy, quality and incurring additional expenditure.

“The new Mimaki UCJV Series runs brand new competitively priced inks, with a high quality finish and adhesion, as well as a highly opaque white ink option that could never be achieved on a solvent printer.”

The advantage for Granthams is that it will be able to display both new Mimakis in its showroom alongside other products, enabling both existing and potential customers to see the full range of solutions on offer.

Reader adds: “Having a range of options allows us to suggest the right machine to suit the business. We’re often asked for our opinion on which machine is best, but it all comes down to what features take precedence for the customer.

“By offering a range of different products all in one place, we can offer honest feedback on the pros and cons of each technology.”
