Now in place at Falmouth University, the Mimaki TX300P-1800 can produce applications such as household textiles, fashion and soft signage

The Mimaki machine will now support students from a range of courses work, as some prepare for potential careers in the print and related industries.

The Mimaki TX300P-1800 can be set up with acid, reactive, pigment or disperse dyes, which both the manufacturer and R A Smart say makes the device suitable for the production of applications such as household textiles, fashion and soft signage.

Freya Moses, senior technician at the university, says: “Digital print has become increasingly popular within the Fashion and Textiles Institute at Falmouth University, meaning the digital print facilities are in constant demand.

“We wanted to ensure that we could keep up with the high demand so it seemed like the perfect time to invest in a printer.”

Falmouth University has been working with R A Smart for almost 15 years and was keen to once again turn to the supplier for help with the investment.

“We have built a brilliant working relationship with R A Smart over the years, so unsurprisingly the purchasing of our new TX300 went extremely smoothly,” Moses says.

She continues: “They were quick to send us all of the information we needed and any questions were answered promptly. They even arranged for us to take a look at the printer in action so we could make sure it was the correct model for what we needed.

We will now be able to offer more digital print sessions than we have previously had and on to a larger range of fabrics

“The TX300 has the potential to print much quicker and with improved quality. We will now be able to offer more digital print sessions than we have previously had and on to a larger range of fabrics.

“We are going to research further in to creating our own print environments, really concentrate on building up our knowledge of colour and possibly look in to getting some links with local companies.”

R A Smart will be in attendance at The Print Show this year to display a number of machines, including kit from Mimaki.
