Automation is king for GMG

As the challenges facing sign-makers mount in terms of maintaining correct colour profiling across multiple print devices and media to service a single customer project, GMG has ridden to the rescue.

To increase productivity and output quality of whole pre-press setups, GMG Color Server 5.0 can be integrated in almost any third-party workflow application

“Retouching multiple files manually can be complex, and does not guarantee repeatable results. With GMG Color Server 5.0 and GMG MX technology, press-ready files can be created automatically in reproducible quality," explains Thomas Kunz, head of GMG product management.

He adds that GMG Color Server 5.0 even allows an accurate and cost-efficient conversion of spot colours into process colours.

GMG has also integrated a new ‘hot folder’ system within Color Server 5.0, allowing any client to convert files without expert knowledge. Kunz explains: “GMG Color Server's 5.0 dynamic hot folder concept simplifies your work because multiple hot folders reference one template. If you switch to another printing standard, only the template is changed and all hot folders adapt accordingly.”

Kunz also explains that it is even possible to assign incoming data to a printing standard by simply naming the file accordingly. He adds that GMG Color Server 5.0 can also be integrated in almost any third-party workflow application. The optional, fully integrated Smart Profiler also further extends GMG Color Server 5.0 with profiling functionality. And finally the new ‘Paper Adaptation Tool’ guarantees close visual matches to printing conditions or standards adapting the colour output space to the production paper.

Founded in 1984, GMG continues to be an independent success story as many of its historic peers have either fallen by the wayside or been consumed by printer manufacturers. Today, more than 11,000 systems are in use among customers around the globe.
