The Software Training Theatre provides free education and training to its visitors on design software and RIP technology; and it is the latter that Roland DG’s Joe Wigzell, Roland DG Academy and Creative Centre manager will focus on during several informative presentations over the three-day show.

Wigzell will demonstrate the plethora of RIP software programmes, which come included with purchases of Roland DG technology.

Chief among these is VersaWorks Dual,  the new generation successor of Roland VersaWorks. VersaWorks Dual RIP print and management software has been developed exclusively for use with the latest generation of Roland DG technology, including the recently launched TrueVIS SG Series and VG Series of printer/cutters, the SOLJET EJ-640 printer and the VersaUV LEF-300 UV Printer, to complement and maximise the performance of its machines.  Roland DG’s newest software is built to ensure an accurate and comprehensive performance for users of all skill levels, and boasts a host of technology advancements to improve workflow processes.

These include the capability to process natively both PostScript and PDF format files to streamline tasks and increase efficiency, and the ability to run on up to four separate Roland DG devices. New features include the ability to improve product output including: embedded ICC profile support, ink level adjustment tools, proofing capabilities, error diffusion and advanced cropping, tiling, and nesting options.

Other interesting features are that VersaWorks Dual is compatible with the Roland DG Colour System Library, and that includes a predictive ink calculator to estimate the amount of ink needed for each job, enabling users to accurately monitor the cost of each production.

Also to be discussed by Wigzell will be Rolandprintstudio, which is designed for Roland DG users working with Mac OS. This RIP software is also powerful print management tool according to Roland, which enables users to easily manage print production features through a host of advanced workflow assisting tools that promote maximum efficiency.

Advanced features include support for the design process, including; speciality colours, such as white, gloss or metallic that can be created from CMYK data to enable users to adjust artwork for perfect pixel to pixel registration. It also has industry standard colour libraries and a sophisticated spooler function.  The software also allows multiple users to submit to a print queue, the feature allows for quick reprints through easy access to historical job settings - saving both time and effort.

Rolandprintstudio also has a costing function to automatically calculate print costs for easy quotations and cost calculating, resulting in savings to the bottom line business costs.
