AwlTech shines bright with AM2/AMI

Plastics machining and finishing solutions provider AwlTech has extended its portfolio of diamond edge-polishing machines with the launch of the new AM2/AMI series.

The new AM2/AMI series comprises the AM2-I, AMI-C 2100 and AMI-C 3100 models

Available in a choice of three sizes – AM2-I, AMI-C 2100 and AMI-C 3100 – the machines can handle a range of acrylic and thermoplastic materials, allowing users to produce applications for the signage and display, plastics fabrication, general engineering and architectural design and build sectors.

The machines use either a natural or synthetic diamond-based cutter to provide a high-gloss or matt finish to materials in multiple continuous passes, as well as boast variable feed rates of between 500 up to 1500mm/min and the ability to polish materials up to 120mm thick at an angle as high as 48 degrees.

The AM2-I model can handle material in a maximum length of 1,400mm, while the AMI-C 2100 and AMI-C 3100 can process material lengths of 2,100mm and 3,100mm, respectively. The AMI-C 3100 also features seven clamps rather than the standard five for what AwlTech  bills as “enhanced material hold-down efficiency”.

Key design features on all three models include automatic material depth-setting and quick-change tool systems, as well as touchscreen operation. Meanwhile, the AMI-C 2100 and AMI-C 3100 have optional extras such as a facility that enables automatic inclination of the milling motor and material hold-down clamps and a buffing system with integrated mop polisher.
