Co-branded with South Korean manufacturer Sindoh, the new printer will make its debut at this year’s Sign and Digital UK. Hybrid says the new solution has been developed as an in-house design and production tool for producing jigs used in direct-to-object printing and tools for creating three-dimensional signage.

“Flexibility and ease-of-use are key features of the new desktop 3D printer. It’s been developed so that you can have it sitting in your office without disruption,” states Bert Benckhuysen, senior product manager at Mimaki Europe.

He continues: “The 3D printer also complements our sign and display printers seamlessly, with time and cost savings through efficient in-house manufacturing of eye-catching colourful indoor signs and channel letters, which are 3D printed first and then decorated using Mimaki’s UV printers in Long-Drop mode, allowing high quality print on three-dimensional objects.”

The Mimaki 3DFF-222 prints in a polylactic acid (PLA) material using filament cartridges and is capable of printing parts up to 210mm x 200m x 195mm, as well as offering remote monitoring of each print job through a dedicated app. PLA is a plant-derived eco plastic made from corn and potato starch allowing users to utilise one of the more environmentally friendly materials in 3D printing. 

“Commercially available from the end of April 2019, we’ll be showcasing the 3DFF-222 3D printer on the Hybrid stand at Sign and Digital UK, which takes place from April 2nd to 4th at the NEC,” says Brett Newman, Hybrid’s chief operations manager.

Newman concludes: “This will be an ideal opportunity for those exploring the world of direct-to-object printing with jigs, but also visitors who are delving into the 3D signage market, where the Mimaki 3DFF-222 provides a desktop solution.”
