The Label Makers (Labmak) has successfully completed beta testing of its new Tau 330 RSC Label Press, while Leach has invested in a new Durst Rhotex 325 printer.

New investment is on the horizon for Labmak, following the securement of new contracts for the Bradford-based firm. The new digital, high-speed, eight-colour label press runs at 78m a minute and is produces a flexo-like quality with a print resolution of 1200 x 1200 dpi. With eight colour stations, the machine can achieve close to 98 percent pantone colour gamut coverage.

The print quality means that we can look for more sophisticated work, particularly as we are finding it far easier to hit everybody’s brand colour

David Webster, managing director of Labmak, says: “The print quality means that we can look for more sophisticated work, particularly as we are finding it far easier to hit everybody’s brand colour.

“As one example, we were actually approached by a major food brand that has led to a new contract that will be worth around £150,000 in the first year. Others will follow. We couldn’t be doing all this without Durst, a company that has been an incredibly supportive partner with fantastic technology.”

Meanwhile in Huddersfield, large-format graphic display specialist Leach has doubled the capacity of its UK factory to a 500m² per hour print rate. The new printer uses dye sublimation technology to produce wide-format graphics up to 3m wide and of any roll length. The Rhotex 325 from Durst can alternate between direct-to-textile and transfer printing to give the firm further flexibility.

James Lavin, managing director of Leach, says: “As demand from the retail, exhibition and heritage sectors continues to rise, we are passionate about being able to help more clients, as quickly as we can, without any detriment to quality.

“The addition of this cutting-edge equipment means that we now have technology capable of satisfying virtually any print brief, regardless of budget, environmental agendas, lighting specification and material preferences.”
