The growth of 3D printing in engineering

As 3D print becomes more valuable, members of the engineering and manufacturing industry are beginning to sit up and take note. In June, over 400 invited engineers and manufacturers will attend the Hand to Scan festival of 3D engineering excellence, where exhibitors will be able to showcase 3D equipment and the benefits it could bring to those industries.

The event takes place on June 22nd and 23rd and will be held at the Solent Sky Museum in Southampton and boasts exhibitors such as HP, Faro, Solid Solutions, Graitec, Frazer Nash, Makerbot, and 3T RPD. Art Systems will be supporting fellow Makerbot specialist distributor and organiser of the event Isodo 3D at the festival.

Guests from the engineering and manufacturing sectors will be attending the festival on Friday 22nd, and Saturday will be open to members of the public. Art Systems will be supporting the festival with live demonstrations of the Makerbot Starter Lab.

It is ideal for people who need a single 3D printer resource for multiple users

An Art Systems spokesperson explains: “Starter Lab bundles Makerbot’s most accessible, easy to use, and successful 3D printing technology into an integrated package for educators and businesses. It is ideal for people who need a single 3D printer resource for multiple users.”

Isodo 3D say that the activities have been specifically designed to “inspire and give insight into some of the most exciting 3D engineering and manufacturing stories to date.”

Visitors also have the opportunity to win a flight in a two-seater Supermarine Spitfire by entering the raffle, with winners announced in July. The proceeds from the raffle go to the Solent Sky Museum, which will help to maintain the museum and its aviation heritage.
