Roland DG has introduced a new range of large-format cutters, including the GR-640, with a maximum cutting speed of 1,485mm/s

The VG-540 or larger VG-640 are compatible with a wide range of materials, including traditional and non-PVC vinyl, canvas, wallpaper, banners, and more. The machines can be used to produce items such as personalised window display stickers, labels, posters, and banners.

With a list price of £14,999 for the VG-540, and £16,499 for the VG-640, maximum quality can be obtained without the high price tag.

In a statement, Roland DG says: “Boasting four advanced FlexFire print heads, the VG series is ideal for users looking to produce high volumes of print, without compromising on quality.

"The vast range of versatile applications available with the VG series, combined with its quality output and impressive print speeds, means that print professionals can offer their customers a range of diverse, superior products that will keep them coming back for more time and again.”

The VG-540 has a maximum speed of 32sq m/h, while the VG-640 has a top speed of 34sq m/h. The latter is also slightly heavier standing at 205kg, while the VG-540 weighs 191kg.

Roland DG’s TrueVIS ink delivers a wide colour gamut while meeting environmental standards, and a new ink system featuring 500cc pouches that fit into reusable holders means there is less waste.

The VG series also includes VersaWorks Dual RIP software, which features a new core engine for faster previewing times and improved handling of PDF and EPS files, including files with drop-shadows and transparencies.

Furthermore, Roland DG has introduced the new GR series of large-format cutters, which it says is “the ideal solution” for those looking to add a cutter to an existing workflow. The GR-640, GR-540, and GR-420 all come in at under £5,000 and are said to be ‘powerful and easy-to-operate’ devices.

The company explains: “Featuring world-renowned CAMM-1 technology, the cutters more than meet the needs of today’s graphics professionals with outstanding media versatility, speed, accuracy, and state-of-the-art cutting features.

“Models in the range all feature a new cutting carriage and blade holder with an increased 600g downforce for use on even the most challenging materials and at high speeds. The CAMM-1 GR cutter boasts the fastest throughput in its class, with its optimised cutting carriage drive system boosting productivity for users.”

Similarly to the VG series, the GR series offers print-service-providers the opportunity to gain access to new markets and create a range of exciting products. It can cut difficult media such as cardboard, heat transfer material, window tint film, laminated graphics, sandblast masking, and more.
