Landa: the cat that got the cream

No matter your opinion on the potential of his technology or the road it has taken to bring it to market, there is one fact you cannot deny, Benny Landa is a marketing genius. And now he has finally achieved his dream, revealing beta test sites for his Nanographic Printing presses around the world are working successfully.

Benny Landa has proved the doubters wrong, and after strengthening its Komori partnership and with backing from Altana, he has working presses in the field

This press technology in its S10P variant is a very interesting piece of printing equipment for the UK's largest signage firms, as it is capable of pumping out huge volumes of very low cost per page large-format print that can be used for applications such as bust stop advertising posters, retail point-of-sale signage, and illuminated menus in fast-food outlets. The key strengths being ultra-fast printing, no set-up times, litho quality, and reportedly the lowest cost per page in the world.

“This is real today, you can see the press printing and we are giving examples away, which is really exciting for people. It’s the maturity of the product,” said Gerry Mulvaney, European sales manager for Landa out at Drupa in interview with Signlink.

He added: “The excitement of 2012 has continued over the last four years over those who are in our preferred customer programme and have seen the products up close.”

Indeed, there was a collective gasp from the assembled journalists in Benny Landa’s private briefing theatre when he revealed that none other than multi-national print heavyweight Elanders is one of the manufacturer’s test-sites for the S10P.

Our customers will be able to order what they need, when they need it, at a cost they can afford

“Since the Landa S10P press prints at speeds up to 13,000 sheets per hour—five times faster than our existing digital presses— Our customers will be able to order what they need, when they need it, at a cost they can afford. Simply put, this is the service breakthrough that the market has been waiting for,” says Peter Sommer, executive vice president and chief executive officer of Elanders Europe.
