Ultima Displays has come out in support of its new Versa-Tech laser cutter, purchased from the UK’s only X and Y axis flatbed cutting machine manufacturer, Blackman and White.

Ultima Displays, one of the leading suppliers of portable displays and print solutions, needed to upgrade its graphics department, especially in its media cutting, in order to cope with increased demands on its workforce

“We needed a machine that could cope with over 3m width, high speed and offered multi tool laser, router and knife cutting flexibility to deal with our wide range of medias,” explains Jeff Weir, Ultima Display’s operations director. “We also needed to consider our costs, so we required a machine that was top of the range, reliable and relatively easy to use, all this and at a price we were happy to pay.”

As well as the new cutter, Ultima has also invested in ‘pre-flight’ checking software and workflow management system allowing every job to be monitored through every stage of the process. The Versa-Tech also comes with industry-specific CAD/CAM software included, so there was no need to fit it in with existing software.

“We are expecting our investment to help reduce lead times, allowing us to support our dealers more when they need to outsource any printing jobs,” concludes Weir, who expects 2015 to be an increasingly busy year for Ultima, as they add further products to their range.
