HP's kit has got the juice

HP has unveiled a number of new ink and media options for its large-format sign and display portfolio, in a move the firm says will allow print service providers (PSPs) to increase application value and versatility.

HP says the new ink and media options will boost the production of applications such as POP material

“To remain competitive, sign and display PSPs are constantly looking for ways to evolve their businesses, from a single core speciality to producing a variety of applications under one roof,” said Xavier Garcia, vice president and general manager, sign and display business, HP.

Launched at the International Sign Association (ISA) Sign Expo, the HP Scitex FB7600/FB7500 Enhanced Colour Pack is an upgrade for the HP Scitex industrial press. It provides a scalable ink option that claims to better meet client colour needs and deliver point-of-purchase (POP) material with higher image quality. Offered as six, seven or eight colour configurations, the first inks available are HP FB225 Orange and Light Black Scitex inks.

HP also announced a metallic colours effect application—backed by HP software partner, Color-Logic—for the HP Scitex FB700 and FB500 industrial printers. The software claims to enable users to produce metallic effects for high-quality retail and POP applications, in addition to package prototyping.

Additionally, HP has entered into a licensing agreement with Brand Management Group (BMG) to further boost HP Latex ink technology. The partnership will see BMG source, market and distribute a limited portfolio of HP-branded media, while HP continues developing advanced coatings and treatments.

Garcia concludes: “These application enhancements, new media options and alliances allow our customers to confidently expand into new markets, helping them strategically grow their service offering.”
