After two years of development, Absen is enjoying a positive reaction to its new LED solution.

The new 1.5mm MiniLED technology sold out instantly, according to Absen

Curated following years of problem solving, the new Aries LED display series is Absen’s new four-in-one MiniLED solution – an upgrade to the traditional surface mounted diode (SMD) LED technology.

The initial 500 LEDs sold out instantly according to the firm, with UK AV distributor PSCo the first in Europe to invest.

DB Pixelhouse, Onyx and Catalyst are also amongst the first UK rental companies to add the product to their rental portfolios.

Liam Winter, PSCo’s head of LED explains how the market has needed a solution to a number of issues surrounding 1.5mm pixel pitch for rental and cites “visual and operational compromise” as a recurring problem.

...you have the ability to boost maximum brightness 30% higher than traditional LED, ensuring your LED screen can deliver the same visual impact you’ve come to expect from larger pixel pitch products

“Whether the technical solution has been chip-on-board (COB) or coated SMD glue-on-board (GOB), the visual performance including contrast, colour uniformity and visual seams has not met the expectations set by SMD,” Winter says. “Combine this with the inability to repair a single pixel, and the solution is simply not a compelling or viable option for rental use.”

Winter describes how the new Absen Aries 1.5 MiniLED technology solves these issues due to its increased pixel strength and ability to repair pixels.

Winter continues: “Combine this with Absen’s Common Cathode technology and you have the ability to boost maximum brightness 30% higher than traditional LED, ensuring your LED screen can deliver the same visual impact you’ve come to expect from larger pixel pitch products.”

Described as “futureproof”, the new range features a 16:9 aspect ratio panel, integrated pixel protection system, auto-lock mechanism and support for 4K UHD resolution and HDR10 standards.
