A global platform is born

Two years after combining their expertise and knowledge in a strategic partnership, NAPCO Media and the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) have strengthened their relationship further.

The acquisition marks the launch of a unified global platform

The result of the partnership was PRINTING United, an event held in Dallas each year, which features the display of wide-format printing technologies and supplies, education, programming and servicing.

In order to connect print-service-providers and suppliers in the graphic and visual communication industry even further, the SGIA has announced that it has now acquired NAPCO Media.

NAPCO Media owns seven print companies including Packaging Impressions, Printing Impressions, PromoMarketing, and Wide-Format Impressions. The group will continue to operate as an independent entity, as will the SGIA. Both companies will remain at their respective offices in Fairfax, Virginia, and Philadelphia.

It is imperative that organisations develop a broad ability to address market needs, either through more close-knit collaboration or, as in this instance, combination

Ford Bowers, chief executive officer and president of SGIA, comments: “In an industry where traditional boundaries and segments continue to come together, an organisation that spans the breadth of the industry is needed more than ever.

“Research, education, training, relationships, government affairs, technology and more are not nearly as siloed as they once were. It is imperative that organisations develop a broad ability to address market needs, either through more close-knit collaboration or, as in this instance, combination.”

Dave Leskusky will remain as NAPCO Media’s president. Leskusky describes the acquisition as more of a “vertical merger” designed to enrich both firm’s individual strengths. “We are thrilled to cement our relationship with SGIA,” he says. “NAPCO Media and SGIA share a common mission to build community and be the primary resource for information and education to help the industry flourish.”
