Celebrating 150 years of Heinz beans

When Henry J Heinz crossed the pond in 1886 to bring his baked beans to the British people, the first place he went was Fortnum & Mason, making it the first stockist of the product in the UK.

Clements Create used a range of techniques to achieve the striking displays

150 years later and the nation is still in love with baked beans. To celebrate the milestone, Kraft Heinz and Fortnum & Mason approached Clements Create to create a unique window display and supporting point-of-sale.

The window display spans all eight of the iconic store front in Piccadilly, showcasing each of the brand’s iconic products from tomato ketchup to baked beans, using a mix of hand sculpting and painting and neon lighting.

Clements Create completes all its projects in-house, from the design stage to the manufacturing and finally, the installation. Clements, which creates experiences and displays for brands, boasts a 60,000sq ft production facility, allowing for the completion of large scale projects and even offering a ‘home’ for client’s brand experiences whilst they are not in use.

The display continues in-store to celebrate the anniversary

The company comments: “Kraft Heinz wanted to create something really special to celebrate their 150th birthday with the help of their very first UK stockist, Fortnum & Mason. Kraft Heinz trusted Clements to create magic, telling this unique story in all eight of Fortnum & Mason's iconic windows and central store atrium.

Within a tight three-week time frame, the team designed, manufactured and installed the final project, which was revealed to passers-by in London last week.

Clements adds: “Kraft Heinz are delighted with the project and the positive media that the experience has generated, being picked up by the national press within 12 hours of its unveiling. Fortnum & Mason commented that the installation is one of the smoothest they have experienced.”
