It’s a wrap for Allen Signs

Signage and printing specialist Allen Signs has donated 3,000 sheets of festive wrapping paper in aid of St Barnabas Hospice.

The paper measures in at the same length as 75 double decker buses

The Lincoln-based company has joined forces with the Waterside Shopping Centre after it invited St Barnabas to raise money for its cause by wrapping shoppers’ presents in return for a donation.

To help the charity to do this, Allen Signs produced 1,500 metres of paper, printed on 100gsm with a silk finish.

Utilising its expertise, the print specialist has created three different types of paper in turquoise, dark blue, and red, designed by the in-house team. The paper features the logos of St Barnabas, the Waterside Centre, and Allen Signs.

As well as providing the charity with the paper for free, Allen Signs has also donated a Santa sleigh, a cardboard Christmas tree, and will send staff to the centre to help wrap presents.

For as long as I have been at the centre, we’ve offered to wrap people’s presents in return for a donation to charity. This year, I wanted to make it a little bit different and even more special

Dean Cross, manager at the Waterside Shopping Centre says: “For as long as I have been at the centre, we’ve offered to wrap people’s presents in return for a donation to charity. This year, I wanted to make it a little bit different and even more special.

“When I had the idea of using unique wrapping paper, I approached Allen Signs, as they’ve done a lot of work for us over the years. They have come up with a great design and printed it in three colours, which all look great.”

With 227,000 miles of wrapping paper thrown away each year, many companies are promoting the use of recycled wrapping paper and encouraging people to dispose of their waste responsibly.

In line with this, the paper produced by Allen Signs is made from wood pulp, an Elemental Chlorine Free (ECF) material which is sourced from well managed forests, and all inks are vegetable-based. A sustainable alternative to harmful petroleum-based inks.
