This time, Epson offered its support through lumen laser projection mapping, as well as the usual production of Quinn’s high-end garments. The relationship between the designer and Epson is in its second year, and this year the manufacturer sponsored Quinn’s LFW show through the two mediums.

Quinn comments: “This show combines for the first time Epson’s printing and projection world-class technologies – Epson’s passion for pushing its technologies to their limits is very exciting – the printer team have been very supportive and now I can integrate visual imaging to my show.”

That’s the power of digital printing – I have total flexibility to customise designs and produce the exact quantity, without any waste, here in my London studio

In Quinn’s Peckham-based railway arch studio, the designer creates his designs using an Epson SureColor SC-F9200 inkjet printer and has been working non-stop to produce the looks that would be worn on the catwalk, and for clothes that are made for independent retail customers. Quinn continues: “Each can choose an exclusive textile for design composition for each piece which is very exciting for them and their customers.  No other stockist will carry the same design.

Richard Quinn is an innovative designer, with a passion for both high-end fashion but also décor. This is where the Epson SureColor SC-S80600 printer comes in, allowing Quinn to design a create wall, window and floor coverings as well as wraps for 3D objects.

On the London show itself, Heather Kendle, market development manager for Epson Europe, adds: “It’s inspiring to see how Richard is exploring the considerable flexibility of Epson digital textile printing. Our technology is changing the business of fashion, giving designers like Richard more control and a powerful platform to print high quality designs in a variety of sizes quickly and with customised colours and fabrics.

“Important too is the environmental benefits that digital printing brings compared to traditional textile printing processes. It uses up to 70 percent less water, 80 percent less energy and, by enabling designers to print and produce exact quantities on-site or locally, it dramatically cuts waste. The design potential and impact on the fashion industry is very exciting.”
