Allen’s new investment, the Protek Unico TT digital cutter and router, will help Allen Signs to grow and improve product quality

The Lincolnshire-based firm has recently purchased the Protek Unico TT digital cutter and router, which was manufactured in Italy. The technology is not the only addition to Allen Signs, as the company has employed new members of staff to continue its drive for growth. The latest recruitment, Michael Gray, is now a member of the install team.

David Allen, managing director, comments: “When we decided to take the plunge and install the new printer, we always knew it would only form part of the story and that the investment would only really pay off if we added a more up-to-date digital cutter.

“The Protek Unico TT has really impressed me as it can cut extremely clean edges on nearly every material we’ve thrown at it, even giving an almost flame polished edge to acrylics. It also has two knife bays and a camera meaning anything we print can be seamlessly contour cut or creased if necessary.”

As a business, we are committed to investing in new technology as well as the training and development of our staff, so we can continue to improve the range and quality of our products and services

The new investment has the ability to cut through numerous materials, including carboard, plywood and metal. Allen continues: “As a business, we are committed to investing in new technology as well as the training and development of our staff, so we can continue to improve the range and quality of our products and services.

“Our investment has already paid off as we’re now entering new markets and doing more exhibition and branding work which we hope to continue to build on. When clients approach us, we can now specify a wider range of materials and create more innovative and eye-catching designs.

Allen concludes: “Previously there were certain jobs which we couldn’t compete on price-wise but now we’re able to be much more cost-effective.”
