Designer Richard Quinn with the set that he designed for the Port Eliot Festival

Richard Quinn impressed at the Port Eliot Festival in Cornwall. With help from John Lewis and Parker Knoll, a furniture manufacturer, Quinn demonstrated his Mylar metallic wall coverings and Premier Textiles furniture fabrics, which he printed himself on the Epson at his studio.

‘The Wardrobe Department’ stage was home to various budding designers, including the Central St Martins alumnus, who designed the whole stage set where the interviews took place.

Quinn comments: “Being invited to create a unique, one-off set for the festival was such an exciting prospect. Although initially daunting because I had to create so many appropriate surfaces made the task straight forward, cost-effective and achievable in a short frame.

“My design and print is all about the colour vibrancy and the Epson technology allowed me to get the desired Pantones with ease across all substrates. The Sure Color SC-F9200 has been so efficient for our fashion line and this was the first time exploring upholstery fabrics – a great success.”

He continues: “The Epson option for a four pass plus 30 ensure the thicker pile fabrics are as vibrant as others, making the Parker Knoll furniture really pop.”

The young designer has already received the international 2017 H and M Design Award, and also appeared as one of Dazed Magazine’s ‘Dazed 100’ cultural influencers for 2017. He was also named as the British Fashion Council’s ‘one to watch’ for 2017.

Richard Barrow, senior product manager for Epson Europe, finishes: “It’s very exciting how Richard is exploring the considerable flexibility of digital print to take his designs onto a wide variety of substrates. He is the leading the vanguard of new young designers who are taking advantage of the considerable power of digital to create new opportunities and businesses.”

The floor tiles were also installed by and printed by Slam Signs, on Spandex non-slip vinyl. These were printed on an Epson Sure Color SC-SC80600 printer.
