Signage and graphics aids Ubuntu fundraising

The Ubuntu Education fund benefitted from a range of signage, graphics, and Drytac Re Tac at its fundraising event in London, in May. The Roundhouse was home to the night, and was decorated by Oasis Graphic Co, which used Drytac’s Re Tac 75, and Fisher Productions.

With a focus on raising money for the trust that helps vulnerable and orphaned children of Port Elizabeth, South Africa, the evening was attended by more than 300 guests, who were treated to live music from Laura Mvula. The funding will go towards building a new primary school, and helping children escape from poverty.

Oasis Graphics Co created the wall coverings for the foyer and the stairwell of the Roundhouse. Due to the building’s grade II listing, the firm had to be careful. Drytac Re Tac 75 matte film was printed on to create the graphics.

Fisher Productions were in charge of the video, lighting, signage, and graphics. The company got in contact with Oasis, which was happy to help. Project manager, Stacey Bearne, says: “Fisher Productions provided us with the artwork and we were charged with printing the graphics and installing them at the Roundhouse.

“We printed the graphics in-house on our Mimaki JV33 solvent printer. We’ve used the Drytac Re Tac film a number of times recently for temporary graphics and it perfectly met the needs of the Roundhouse project.

“The graphics had to adhere to the rough concrete surface and—perhaps more importantly—they had to come off the walls simply and cleanly after the event. Drytac’s Re Tac seemed to be the ideal solution.”

Claire Butcher, lead production manager at Fisher Productions, finishes: “The Ubuntu Education Fund were very happy with the end-result and thought the graphics looked great. The event was also a huge success, raising valuable money for this very worthy cause.”
