Neil Davies, chief executive of Close Brothers, says some business owners have already acted to ease concerns staff may have

In its latest study, the Close Brothers Business Barometer found that the highest levels of concerns lie in Greater London, with 52 percent of employees having raised the issue with their bosses.

In comparison, East Anglia saw 14 percent of staff ask the same question, with Northern Ireland and Wales at 13 and 14 percent, respectively.

The fact that 26% of business owners admitted to having being asked directly by their employees what Brexit means for them shows that there is a strong level of interest in the impact of the UK’s decision to leave the EU

Neil Davies, chief executive of Close Brothers, comments: “Looking at the results from a national perspective, the fact that 26% of business owners admitted to having being asked directly by their employees what Brexit means for them shows that there is a strong level of interest in the impact of the UK’s decision to leave the EU.

"In most cases the answer was understandably ‘it’s too early to tell’, according to our research.”

Davies goes on to say: “In many instances, company bosses proactively addressed the potential impact of Brexit with employees before they had a chance to ask, doing what they could to answer questions and concerns.”

With the UK gearing up to exit the European Union, it is up to company owners and managers to ensure that the move does not have a negative impact on their staff, and instead place a focus on the more positive points of the decision.
