William Smith could be set for substantial growth with the launch of the new ‘Smith’ brand

Although well known across our industry as a sign-maker and distributor of self-adhesive film material, the company began life in 1832 with more of a focus on manufacturing and was famed for inventing the first mechanical road sweeper. The firm has now returned to its roots with the new brand, in an effort to bolster and differentiate the fabrication side of its business away from the distribution arm.

Chris Bradley, marketing manager at William Smith, comments: “Launching a new brand is always exciting, especially one which has evolved over the years into an eclectic mix of tradition and cutting-edge technology.

"What’s great about Smith, is that it emphasises our investment and growth plans into an element of the company we are extremely proud of, because it is the one where it all began.”

The new ‘Smith’ brand will offers customers a variety of products including CE marked traffic signs, illuminated and non-illuminated commercial signs and way-finding products for internal or external applications, as well as a host of other products.

Bradley adds: “By using top of the range equipment and with nearly 200 years’ experience in the industry, we are able to offer some of the shortest lead times in the industry and provide our customers with a wider range of products.”
