BSGA appeals for industry to set new standard
Ensuring standards for apprenticeships in the sign industry are up to date, the British Sign and Graphics Association (BSGA) is putting together a group of employers to develop a new framework that will come into play in 2018.

The BSGA has been asked to create new apprenticeship standards for the sign industry with the help of employers
“This will cover England only (for the time being) and the Government has handed the development of the standards required down to the employers of the relevant industry – hence why Cogent (the Sector Skills Council for the sign industry) are asking the BSGA and Sign Companies to be involved— which is an ideal opportunity to for the industry itself to ensure a suitable standard for the framework,” says David Catanach, director of the BSGA.

The BSGA has been asked to gather a minimum of ten people who will participate in a meeting to firstly to get feedback on developing the standard and then to create a set of standards that are fair for those working in the sign industry.
Catanach adds: “The first step is to get names of those willing to participate. There are no restrictions other than being able to travel to Cheshire for the first meeting which will be held in July 2015.”
