Hong Kong is a city like no other in the world, it is a city of skyscrapers stretching 50 floors into the clouds, jungle choked mountains, white sand beaches, smells you could paint with, deafening noise—and most importantly—it is a city that embraces signage technology with its very soul.

Graffiti to 50-story high LED letters, Hong Kong’s signage scape is certainly impressive
Over two weeks this reporter walked its crowded and colourful streets with his family on holiday snapping these beauties like a true sign-spotter.
The city’s sign-makers are something of an army and can be seen churning out every conceivable form of construction conceivable from sign-writing to 20m high digital screens—including a very lively trade in neon, which is an incredibly skilled art form in the city in order to accommodate the very complex Chinese characters.
If there is one overarching impression taken away from this sign odyssey, it is that signs are not just a commercial commodity in Hong Kong. They are part of the city’s culture, and make it all the better for it.
