Established in July 1975 as part of Aalco metals, Amari Plastics began life as a venture for the metals business into plastics.
With word having quickly spread about the new company, Amari soon established 13 branches around the UK.
Not long after, in 1999, Amari Plastics was purchased by its current shareholders as their first venture into the plastics distribution businesses.
Now, in its 40th year, the company is part of a leading global distributor of plastics, which itself has a number of businesses in the USA, such as Laird Plastics and Port Plastics, as well as additional arms in Australasia and Europe.
The firm also boasts a network of 27 centres across the UK and more than 400 employees.

These facilities comprise 15 generalist Amari locations, in addition to twelve specialist businesses, wholly owned by Amari but trading under their own identities and servicing certain areas of the market.
Companies such as UKAP, which is a specialist in packaging films for the pharmaceutical and food industries, Self-Adhesive Supplies, a 3M tapes distributor, and A I International, a supplier of engineering plastics to the industrial market, are all owned by Amari.

“This business has been built on integrity and long-term relationships, and it speaks volumes that we have still both customers and suppliers with whom we have traded since day one, and dozens of employees who have been with us for the majority of that time.”
As part of the celebrations to mark this milestone year, Amari will stage a number of special events for both staff and customers at its various locations around the UK.

An event will also be held for the suppliers of Amari in order to thank such companies for their support over the last 40 years.

“Clearly, by the number of names that have disappeared from the market, many have found it an impossible act to follow.
“With the financial support of its owners and its continued strong performance in delivering the products customers want, when they need it with the right level of service there is no reason why Amari Plastics cannot go on and celebrate another 40 years.”
