Lack of cash flow, loss of business, bank loans called in, or even illness can all be the trigger for the end of the road. And it usually begins months in advance of the day of destiny although one major bad debt can be disaster.

February’s casualties have been listed by West Country Credit Management outfit ICSM Credit. Under British law an administrator can be appointed by the company itself or by creditors whose job it is to act in the interest of the creditors and if possible rescue the company—although it only has 12 months to do it.

In February administrators were appointed to Cash’s (UK) Limited, J H Brookes Printers Limited, and Quorn House Publishing Limited who are best known as the publishing arm of keep fit guru Rosemary Conley. The lifestyle celebrity created a small empire out of her guides, videos, books, and various publications on health, diet and aerobics.

February also saw liquidators appointed to a long list of UK firms including the Creative Print Group in London and Sevenash Printing and Graphics in Reading. The liquidator is in charge of winding-up what is left of the business and settling all claims before the firm is dissolved.
