After a two-year gap, FESPA recently successfully returned to the global stage with its Global Print Expo and European Sign Expo.

The live FESPA expos attracted visitors from the UK, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and Germany

In a release on its website, the global federation of print industry members called the events a success as they helped kick-start business recovery in the print and signage industries.

The events saw visitors arrive from over 100 countries, with 49% of the audience descending from Germany and the Benelux region. The expos attracted around 7,850 unique visitors, 42% of whom attended for more than one day.

The events took place between October 12th and 15th and were the first live European FESPA events since Spring 2019.

Highlights included the Wrap Masters competition which saw competitors fight it out for the title of “Wrap Master Europe 2021”, as well as the Printeriors attraction, headed up by FESPA’s Textile Ambassador Debbie McKeegan.

The buzz in the halls was energising and the impression was that delegates felt very confident and happy to be in a live event environment again after such a long time

Talks and exhibitions were also live-streamed as virtual content for those unable to attend the event with the option to also watch the content on demand.

FESPA chief executive officer, Neil Felton, comments: “Feedback from exhibitors was effusive, with many commenting on the upbeat mood among visitors, the unmatched value of face-to-face conversations with senior decision-makers, the enthusiasm for the new technologies and consumables on display, and the overriding sense of optimism for the future.

“The buzz in the halls was energising and the impression was that delegates felt very confident and happy to be in a live event environment again after such a long time.”

Winners of the Wrap Master competition will go on to compete in the regional champions next year in Berlin

According to a survey, 54% of visitors were visiting FESPA for the first time with 44% being business owners or managing directors, demonstrating the increased sales potential for exhibitors.

Neil Felton concludes: “This year’s events were an important milestone in our collective recovery and we hope that our next Global Print Expo and European Sign Expo, which will return to Messe Berlin, Germany, from 31 May – 3 June 2022, will finally put our whole global community back in motion.”
