A trip to Orlando, Florida is up for grabs at this year’s British Sign Awards

The British Sign Awards are held each year to celebrate and commemorate the achievements of those working in the industry. This year is the first year the awards will be organised by ISA-UK, formerly the BSGA, in partnership with its American counterparts of the International Sign Association (ISA).

Part of the new alliance will see the winner of the Young Sign-maker of the Year Award whisked away to Florida for ISA Sign Expo, with the prize including two return flights to Orlando up to a maximum value of $1,000 (approx. £818), three nights hotel accommodation, £250 spending money from ISA-UK, and a free pass to the show.

“The Young Sign-maker Award was introduced to highlight the role of young people and the importance of ongoing training in the industry,” says David Catanach, director of ISA-UK. “The prize is intended to give the winner an experience of a lifetime and we hope that it will encourage all employers and training providers to put their young stars forward for the award.”

The award is open to anyone working or training in the industry under the age of 25, but entrants must be nominated by their employer, supervisor or training provider.

“A visit to Sign Expo is a mandatory requirement for the winner and he or she will be welcomed by our partners at ISA,” adds Catanach. “A visit to the show will be an amazing experience for anyone working in signs. That apart, they are free to enjoy all the other attractions Orlando has to offer.”

Entry for the award is open until Friday, September 13th. Winners will be unveiled at the Gala Awards Ceremony at the Athena Centre in Leicester, on Thursday, November 14th. This year’s host is actor and comedian Shaun Williamson, best known for his role in EastEnders.
