Viscom will now switch between venues in Düsseldorf and Frankfurt each year

The move has been designed to establish Viscom as the “kick-off event” for the new business year, with organisers hoping to draw in a wider range of visitors and exhibitors. Viscom had traditionally been staged in the autumn months.

In addition, Viscom will now take place alongside PSI, a trade show focused on the promotional products industry. Together, the two events draw more than 1,200 exhibiting companies and approximately 28,000 trade visitors from 80 countries.

The move will come into effect from 2019, with event to alternate between two locations in Germany—Düsseldorf and Frankfurt—each year. Viscom 2019 will take place in Düsseldorf from January 8th to 10th, although the change in strategy means that the event will not be staged next year.

They [the two events] thus cover the entire spectrum of visual, textile and haptic advertising

Hans-Joachim Erbel, chief executive of Reed Exhibitions, comments: “They [the two events] thus cover the entire spectrum of visual, textile and haptic advertising.”

The change in direction after organisers revealed that visitors number for this year’s event were significantly down on the previous year. A total of 7,231 were in attendance for Viscom 2017, compared to 9,184 in the previous year, although many exhibitors were still upbeat about their experience at the event.

Volker Lienig, sales and marketing manager of Mutoh Deutschland, comments: “We’re very satisfied with this year’s Viscom. The decision to come was definitely correct. We had high-quality visitors at our stand.”
