Sublimation inks given the all clear

One of the big players in producing sublimation inks for textile printing has had its products given an Eco Passport certification from OEKO-TEX Standard 100.

The certification authenticates the safety of Mimaki sublimation inks for sustainable textile production

Mimaki Engineering says that its Sb54/310/410 and Sb320/420 sublimation inks have been approved by the international safety system. The independent testing and certification system for textile raw materials, and intermediate and end products is an international standard accepted around the globe. The OEKO-TEX Standard 100 is used in Europe and in Japan through Nissenken which verifies standards.

The international standards have been in place for more than two decades with the Eco Passport established in 1992 to prevent poor quality products from entering the market. The move means Mimaki kit and inks have been given a sales boost through their UK and Ireland distributor, Hybrid Services.
This certification reinforces Mimaki’s market-leading approach to developing ink, inkjet systems and reducing overall environmental impact

Hybrid Services’ national sales manager, John de la Roche, comments: “This certification reinforces Mimaki’s market-leading approach to developing ink, inkjet systems and reducing overall environmental impact. This is especially the case with sublimation printing, as this environmentally conscious print system does not use chemicals such as emulsion and does not require steaming and washing processes after printing, further adding to reduced environmental footprint as compared to other textile printing systems such as screen printing.”

Ronald van den Broek, general manager sales at Mimaki Europe, says: “Mimaki continues to pursue high-quality, environmentally-friendly manufacturing and strives to reduce environmental impact. We are gratified by the recognition of our efforts embodied in this important certification.”
