PPDS has launched an exciting addition to their digital signage and interactive display range which monitors and help improve indoor air quality

The PPDS Air Quality Sensor has been created to provide a solution to the ongoing issue of problematic air conditions in indoor areas, especially work and educational environments.

According to PPDS, around 4.3 million people die as a result of indoor air pollution, which has also proven to heighten the spread of viruses and disease. To tackle this, the Air Quality Sensor shows important statistics around temperature, humidity, and CO2.

Made exclusively for schools and businesses in the corporate, retail, and hospitality sectors, the Air Quality Sensor works with PPDS’ latest range of signage and interactive displays. The sensor monitors air quality 24/7 and can display live data for one room, building, or multiple installations.

Chris Colpaert, general manager at PPDS, says: “With the spread of airborne viruses and other potentially harmful pollutants, monitoring indoor air quality is crucial to the health and safety of classrooms and work environments.”

The easy to attach Air Quality Sensor can be combined with digital signage, TVs, and interactive displays to show indoor air quality

Colpaert also notes the responsibilities businesses and individuals now have over their health when in public environments: “Over the past 12 months or so, the world has changed both in our personal and our work lives. Our focus on health and hygiene is something that has never been more relevant nor more scrutinised. As normality returns, it’s more important than ever that the environment we are in is safe.”

SBS (Sick Building Syndrome) can massively increase the spread of diseases such as flu leading to staff absences and significant economic impacts on a company. With poorly ventilated areas adding to serious ailments and also impacting personal wellbeing and productivity it is more beneficial than ever for companies to invest in solutions and packages such as this when looking at their signage.

With the sensor being small in size it can easily be installed with other Philips displays and even provide automatic alerts when air quality has fallen below a safe standard. The associated PPDS app gives tailored recommendations on how to improve conditions with recommendations like using air purifiers, adjusting temperature, or simply opening doors and windows.
