Captain Sir Tom raised more than £33m last year by walking 100 lengths of his garden. Funds were sent to the NHS and a number of charities, helping those most in need during the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

In remembrance, Ocean Outdoor linked up with Landsec, owner of the famous Piccadilly Circus screen, to carry a final salute to the war veteran.

The tribute ran on February 2d and 3rf in three 10-minute dominations.

Other landmarks including the Blackpool Tower, Wembley Stadium and London Eye were bathed in blue, while flags flew at half-mast across the UK.

“Captain Sir Tom’s extraordinary efforts reminded us all that it’s never too late to make a difference,” Ocean Outdoor says. “He lifted and united the nation through his life, optimism and gracious spirit.

“He was the hero who gave us all hope.”

Captain Sir Tom passed away on February 2nd in hospital after contracting Covid-19. He had been suffering with pneumonia in the weeks leading up to his hospital admission.
