The ‘Smile With Us’ campaign will run until the end of England’s lockdown

The ‘Smile With Us’ initiative will invite people to submit photos of themselves, their families and friends, with the images to feature in unison on 50 of Ocean Outdoor’s large-format outdoor screens in the 13 UK cities.

User-generated selfies of people wearing smiles will appear in a loop for 60 minutes at noon every day until lockdown is lifted.

England’s lockdown is due to run from November 5th to December 2nd.

Ocean Outdoor chief marketing officer Richard Malton says: “A smile helps, it’s a natural anti-depressant. As the popular song reminds us, ‘when you’re smiling, the whole world smiles with you’.

“So hopefully, a daily dose of fantastic smiles and happy faces will help improve people’s well-being as we reach the end of a tremendously difficult year together.”

A smile helps, it’s a natural anti-depressant.

To accompany the campaign, Ocean Outdoor has published a list of reasons as to why people should smile more, saying it offers a number of health benefits.

Smiling helps the human immune system to function more efficiently, lowers blood pressure, helps relieve stress and trick your body into elevating your mood.

Smiling can also work as a drug, releasing natural endorphins, natural painkillers and serotonin, and is scientifically proven to change the mood of others.
