The firm has launched in Brisbane, Australia

Former executives of oOh!media and JCDecaux have joined to launch Big Outdoor. The company describes itself as being “passionate about billboards” and promises to grow a national network of aesthetically pleasing displays.

Big Outdoor currently has 45 billboards in Queensland and plans to grow through acquisitions and organic growth. The goal is to have over 150 digital billboards by the end of 2021.

Speaking to Digital Signage Connection, Phil Eastwood, founder and chief executive officer of the new company comments: “The large outdoor media suppliers have become ‘generalists’ with their focus diluted by selling across multiple outdoor environments.

We are excited and focused to continue our investment in growing a national network of aesthetically pleasing digital billboards in the most desirable locations around

“With digital OOH now accounting for 56% of total net media spend, large-format digital billboards are the largest contributor and there is a need for a sharp focus to put back on the true power and impact big digital billboards deliver.”

Making up the team is Richard Maund who has joined from oOh!media and has taken on the role of head of sales and marketing. Dean Cadee, former senior JC Decaux executive has also joined the company as sales director.

Eastwood adds: “We have assembled a tremendous team that is passionate about big digital billboards. We are excited and focused to continue our investment in growing a national network of aesthetically pleasing digital billboards in the most desirable locations around the country and lead the OOH industry with market-first integration of technological innovation across every facet of the consumer journey.”
