Samsung celebrates ten years at the top of digital signage

Data from HIS Markit, a provider of digital signage market data, revealed Samsung as the top selling brand in the industry since 2009. According to the data, Samsung accounted for 25.8% of the global market share for digital signage unit sales in 2018, excluding any consumer TVs used for signage.

“Samsung’s innovative solutions are constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible,” says Seog-gi Kim, executive vice president of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “The IHS rankings validate years of dedication in providing partners with the tools they need to create more realistic and immersive viewing experiences.

He adds: “We will continue to drive the industry forward by adapting to changing customer needs and showcasing what’s possible for the future of display.”

The latest editions to Samsung’s SMART Signage portfolio is aimed at various applications including retail, quick-service restaurants, airports, digital-out-of-home (DOOH) advertising, corporate, education, entertainment, hospitality and public transport.

Samsung introduced its new QLED 8K signage at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2019, which it says is the market’s highest resolution with artificial intelligence (AI) upscaling technology, to provide immersive experiences for viewers. The signage is designed to blend in to any corporate or consumer environment, either in portrait or landscape mode.

“By introducing 8K in display signage, businesses can deliver impeccable picture quality to their audiences in a way that was previously not possible,” adds Kim. “We look forward to introducing the global AV industry to the commercial applications of 8K.”
