Daktronics reaches for market podium

In a key development for the digital signage market, Daktronics has successfully taken over Irish-based competitor Data Display.

The company has also simultaneously revealed it has won the contract to supply the HD LED ‘super-system’ screens and pitch perimeter displays for the new Baku Olympic Stadium in Azerbaijan, which will host the very first European Olympic Games in 2015.

With a base in the UK, Daktronics chief executive officer Reece Kurtenbach weighed in on the purchase news: “Adding the strengths of Data Display will allow our combined organisations to better serve transportation customers worldwide and broaden our leadership position on a global scale.”
