Astley, which started as H. Astley & Co. back in 1924, has overseen a number of changes and acquisitions over the years. The company sees this latest purchase as a way of ensuring growth in the future.

Chairman of the board, David Redhead, along with managing director, Gavin Redhead, and sales director, David Forrester, made up the sellers of Astley Signs, with the latter two continuing with their roles in the company.

With annual sales of around £16m and clients such as Co-op, JET, and Greggs, the company was in a strong position for acquisition thanks also to its 150 employees and four production sites.

The sale allows for the retirement of David Redhead, meaning all shares for Astley were obtained by Mindelon AB which officially made the purchase on May 31st, 2022.

The Mindelon Group is comprised of around ten companies that specialise in the support of retail stores, providing solutions such as checkout systems, theft protection, and efficient logistics.

The transaction secures the future of the company for the next generation and enables it to continue to follow the path of investment, growth, and evolution...

Through the sale, Astley is now an independent company in Mindelon’s Retail Solutions business area headed by Ulrica Lindunger. The transaction was overseen by advisors Confidential Corporate Finance.

“We look forward to all the opportunities that it will bring for the business,” says managing director, Gavin Redhead.

Redhead adds: “The transaction secures the future of the company for the next generation and enables it to continue to follow the path of investment, growth, and evolution we have successfully pursued over the last three decades.”

President and chief executive officer of Mindelon AB, Frederik Celsing, comments: “Astley helps its customers to sharpen their profile and build their brands through innovative, eye catching, and effective signage solutions.

“Astley will therefore be an exciting and valuable addition to our Retail Solutions business area where we will support the company as it continues its successful journey. It is also exciting that the Mindelon group now has a solid foothold in the British market.”
