JCDecaux has been contracted as the main advertising partner for New South Wales public transport

The deal means JCDecaux has become the main advertising partner for Sydney Trains which operates 170 stations over eight lines in Sidney, New South Wales. The contract also gives JCDecaux access to the large amount of advertising locations throughout the Australian concourses and stations.

JCDecaux was originally founded in France, 1964, inventing the concept of street furniture. Since its creation the company has expanded through the world, including Australia. JCDecaux Australia was formed in 1997, to supply the city of Sydney with advertising solutions ahead of the Sydney Olympics.

As the company’s 4th largest market, Australia has proved a significant area of growth for JCDecaux, especially as it has led to the OOH advertiser breaking into New Zealand. The newest contract with Sidney trains will commence from December 1st, 2021, several weeks after the New South Wales government plans to end to lockdowns.

This is a triumphant win for JCDecaux and testament to our long relationship with Sydney Trains, as well as our experience in this market

Chief executive officer for JCDecaux, Steve O’Connor, says: “The sheer scale, quality and impact of our new portfolio across Sydney Trains’ stations and surrounding roads, presents a wealth of new advertising opportunities for brands to connect with people travelling around Sydney.

“This is a triumphant win for JCDecaux and testament to our long relationship with Sydney Trains, as well as our experience in this market.”

The deal will mean the reinvigoration of 1,500 displays across the train network, which covers areas like platforms, entrances, exits, and walkways. JCDecaux will also be doubling its roadside presence in New South Wales with their new XtrackTV screens at ten busy commuter hubs.

New locations and developments will see the introduction of high-quality technology such as new 75-inch screens and high impact 4.5m x 2.5m wall suspended displays.

O’Connor adds: “Rail environments are becoming more and more valuable across the world, as they offer exceptional digital development opportunities with high dwell time audiences. We can’t wait to see people moving around our state again soon.”
