Clear Channel collaborated with Jamii to choose winners of 300 entries

Mobile barbershop company, TRIM-it, applied to the initiative previously reported on by SignLink, which gave UK Black-owned businesses the chance to apply for free outdoor advertising.

Clear Channel, which started the project in partnership with Jamii, a marketplace and community for Black creators, gave independent companies the chance to be showcased on its Adshel Live screens back in July.

TRIM-it is the first winning business to be displayed on the screens, creating greater visibility of a Black-owned business on British high streets.

The mobile barber company is one of ten winners selected by Clear Channel and Jamii from over 300 entries. The project was created to empower and support Black-owned companies and has given winners advertising coverage over the next 12 months.

We can't wait to see everyone's campaigns rollout over the next few months, and to see so many incredible Black-owned businesses taking up space on the high street.

Founder of Jamii, Khalia Ismain, says: "We were overwhelmed with the quality of the applications that came through and it was so difficult to whittle it down to our ten incredible winners.

“We can't wait to see everyone's campaigns rollout over the next few months, and to see so many incredible Black-owned businesses taking up space on the high street."

Other winners of the programme also include Pitt balm, Sock of a Kind, Lucocoa, and Culture Cardz, all of which will be offered free design support to create the advertisements.

Unsuccessful applicants for Clear Channel Compass will also be offered discounted rates to campaigns with Clear Channel, which is one of the UK’s largest out-of-home distributors.
