Sun Chemical details solvent liquid ink surcharges
Sun Chemical has announced that it is to implement surcharges affecting its solvent liquid inks in Europe from April 1st, as a result of the ongoing situation with the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

Surcharges will last until the global coronavirus situation normalises
According to Sun Chemical, the outbreak is causing considerable pressure on the supply chain of alcohol, with ethanol hit particularly hard.
With supply already limited in the second half of 2019 due to a bad crop of raw materials increasing the demand for fuel ethanol, coronavirus has caused further increased demand for pharmaceutical and sanitised products.
Sun Chemical said while availability is reducing globally, prices are increasing quickly, and its own costs have risen as a result.
As such, a solvent surcharge will be applied to Sun Chemical’s ink and varnish prices, with these to vary depending on product types.
Nicolas Bétin, director product strategy EMEA at Sun Chemical, comments: “The pressure on the alcohol supply chain is causing an abrupt rise in raw material costs and unfortunately requires us to increase customer prices.
“We will continue to work with our supply chain partners to manage and minimise the impact on our customers.”
