The illuminated sign took pride of place at the TEDxGlasgow event

A strand of TED is the TEDx event which takes place throughout the year and is designed to help share ideas and views in communities around the world.

One trademark of these events is the bright red illuminated ‘TEDx’ signage which can be found on the stage of each talk.

For a TEDxGlasgow event, Wrights Plastics was commissioned with the task of creating this iconic sign after a competitive tendering process, in which the firm demonstrated its understanding of the brief and ability to meet the project’s complex technical requirements.

The 1m high by 8m long sign took three weeks to complete and utilised many of the West Bromwich-based firm’s skills such as laser profiling and drape moulding.

This has been a challenging and exciting project that has involved many of our teams – from design to dispatch

The finished illuminated sign went on display at the all-day event at Glasgow’s SEC Armadillo Conference centre on June 14th.

“This has been a challenging and exciting project that has involved many of our teams – from design to dispatch,” explains Andy Watkins, commercial director of Wrights Plastics.

“The TEDx event was filmed by BBC TV and livestreamed worldwide so the pressure was on to deliver a finished sign of the highest possible quality. So you can imagine how delighted we were to take a personal call from the TEDxGlasgow founder Gurjit Singh Lalli to say how impressed he was with the process and the final result.”
